*October 18, 2017—Meet at
10 a.m. at the Missouri Botanical
Garden, Ridgway Center, to tour
the Japanese Garden. The
emphasis of the tour will be the
special features of the garden,
as well as the important plants
and their meanings. Lunch
(off the menu) and a brief business meeting will be at the Sassafras Café following the tour.
November 8, 2017—Ikebana International member Debbie Killmer will present a demonstration of the
Ohara School of Ikebana. Participants should bring flat, shallow containers, kenzan and their usual arranging supplies. Floral material will be supplied.
December 11, 2017—A joint holiday lunch with members of the Ikenobo Ikebana Society. Attendees will do an arrangement of their
choice, either a Morimono
arrangement (an arrangement
featuring fruits and/or
vegetables (as seen at right) or a
traditional holiday arrangement.
*January 17, 2018—New Year’s Lunch and fundraising auction, 11 a.m. at Fin Japanese Cusine, 1682 Clarkson Road, Chesterfield, MO 63017. For a look at their menu, visit www.finstl.com. Bring your most “unloved” books, containers and supplies to find them a new home with friends who will love them.

All meeting except for those marked with an asterisk will be held at the Community of Christ Church, 830 N. Kirkwood Road, Kirkwood, MO 63122. Unless otherwise noted, all meetings will begin at 10 a.m.
February 21, 2018—Color in Black, a hands-on workshop using alstroemeria and a black container. Participants should purchase and bring one bunch of alstroemeria,
any color, any branches or
leaves you want to add, and a
black container appropriate
for the style you wish to make,
and your usual arranging
supplies.
March 21, 2018—Learning about Tai Chi from Kelly Smith, who will demonstrate moves and explain the discipline. Members should wear comfortable shoes and clothing that allows easy movement.
April 18, 2018—Food from the flower garden. Nancy
Wadell will present Thyme
in the Garden, a program about edible flowers and
plants.
May 5, 2018—(Note: May 5 is a Saturday) Our chapter will hold a special meeting and exhibition for Children’s Day. Children and grandchildren of members, children of the Community of Christ Church members and friends will be invited to attend.
June 20, 2018—Leaf manipulation
workshop. Kim Peterson will lead
the session, showing how leaves
can be manipulated to enhance
Ikebana arrangements and add
interest to them. Lunch will be a
Cooperation Salad, with each
member providing one ingredient.
Note: Our Chapter does not meet in July or August.
September 1-3, 2018—Japanese Festival, Missouri Botanical Garden. All members to participate.
